Working quietly and unassumingly behind the scenes, Peter directs day to day operations for Encom and ensures the company operates with the highest levels of customer service and integrity. His calm, easy-going manner and open-door philosophy foster a work environment where everyone is engaged and encouraged to thrive and be their best.

A proud father and family man, Peter’s expertise covers more than just the financials of the company. Outside of work he is a capable do-it-yourselfer having completed numerous renovation projects around his home and says that very few people know that building and design are his top hidden talents.

It takes the right person with the combination of personality and innovation to seek out and develop new business opportunities for a company and Ryan, fondly nicknamed General Awesome by friends and colleagues for his easy going and very friendly nature, certainly fits the bill quite well.

Ryan is a passionate leader that loves the challenge of thinking outside the box to find the right solutions that lead to making the customer experience better than it has ever been. He thrives on discussing new ideas, looking for new approaches to common issues, and inspiring others.

A proud dad to three daughters, he loves keeping a healthy balance between work and life and genuinely loves connecting with people in meaningful ways.

My Kids. I know, cheesy right? But it is not just a single event. It is the cumulation of it all that makes me proud.

Traffic Channel Manager

Brendan is our go-to guy for product technical information and support. He started out in production where he directed and supervised product assembly and testing, and then quickly moved up to his current role. Now our distribution partners benefit from his in-depth product knowledge and keen attention to detail when he interacts with them.

Growing up in Ontario, he moved to Calgary for its proximity to the Rocky Mountains. An avid mountain biker, he loves the variety of outdoor trails and wilderness activities the countryside has to offer year-round, and can often be heard planning his next two-wheeled adrenaline rush adventure.

Outside of work, I really enjoy…
mountain biking, skiing, and a clear lake.

Communications Specialist

Mal has worn many ‘hats’ in his career but says that his role with Encom now is his most engaging and most fulfilling. “I’ve had stints in airline customer service, call centers, tech support, real estate and automotive sales, and I’ve even owned a consulting firm in Hawaii at one point. But I enjoy my work at Encom the most because of the creative aspect of it. I collaborate with various people within the team and I get to learn and use creative applications to produce various types of marketing and communications material, as well as design and manage the company website…it’s fun!”

Outside of work, I really enjoy…
spending time with my family, hiking, sightseeing, or chilling out at home by
watching documentaries or informative videos.

Very few people know that I am very good at…
singing.

My favorite vacation destination is…
Hawaii.

If I could be someone else, I would be…
a professional basketball player.

One thing I am most proud about is…
my relationship with my wife and my two very special daughters.

Administrative Assistant

If you’ve ever called Encom Customer Service and heard a pleasant reassuring voice at the other end, or perhaps read that detailed response email, then you’ve interacted with Tannis (or Tan for short).

Apart from her daily tasks of responding to incoming calls and making sure accounts receivables and payables are all tracked, she also keeps on top of our inventory and ensures all sales orders are processed and shipped promptly to clients.  She does all this while always being pleasant and ready for short friendly chats as you pass by her desk. She states, “I make sure that every person I speak to is happier after I’ve spoken to them, whether the interaction is over the phone, by email or in person. I ensure that I’ve attended to all my team members’ requests throughout the day.“

Outside of work, I really enjoy…
camping and being outdoors.

Very few people know that I am very good at…
art—my favorite media/styles are watercolor, blackwork and mixed media. I graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Lethbridge.

One thing that I am most proud about is…
having been chosen as the artist for a live painting night at a brewery.

Firmware Programmer

An essential and critical aspect of what makes Encom’s products work is the firmware program. This is the specialty of Jiaxin (aka Jason), who has been with the company for quite a while. A graduate of the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, he holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He is hardly ever heard from and is the quietest person in the office, but only because he is always focused on his craft and ensuring our line of renowned devices function and deliver what our customers have come to expect—100 percent reliability.

Outside of work, I really enjoy…
hiking and skiing.

Very few people know that I am very good at…
 singing.

One thing that I am most proud about is…
my backyard—I designed and built it myself.
